Boys and Girls Club of America's Vision Statement
"Provide a world-class Club Experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who enters our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle."
The two statements above are about helping youth become the best they can be. To go through school and graduate high school and become the best person. Youth workers working in the Boys and Girls club they should help every kid that comes into the club. The mission statement is short and to the point. It wants to help all the youth in the programs by being the best person they can be. The vision statement is a little longer then most vision statements, but the message is clear. It could be cut down or condensed to be a little shorter.
Thanks for your post Jacob. There are some interesting phrases in the B&G Club Mission and Vision Statements that I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on. For example, in the mission the line, "especially those who need us most" this is an interesting way to frame need. Second in the vision, the desire for kids to "graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle." What do these phrases mean to you? Does the B&G Club support them and if so, how?

These Phrases to me mean that all youth who needs a place to come to after school and find different programs to participate in. The B&G club is also place that helps youth graduate high schools and become the best person they can be and becomes good citizens in their community. I think the B&G club does support them and I see it through the programs they provide for the kids. They have many programs that are educational and they have teen programs that help teens. The B&G club provide a safe and fun environment for youth. Thank you for your comment!

DeleteI second that! I do believe each club site gives guidance and support to BGC participants who are interested in exploring their learning opportunities. My supervisor is currently helping a youth in applying for a summer art-program scholarship. When we, as a staff, notice great potential in our kids, we then do our best to give them that essential push :)
